Lucy & Humf

Humphrey Mervyn Gray/Brown (Humf) and his sister, Lucinda Jane (Lucy), aged 8 and 12, live with their mother and father at the Four and Twenty Blackbirds cafe in the fictional town of Malling, which is based on Lewes, in Sussex. Their friends in the town are Mark Simson, the vicar's son, and Peggy and John Hogben, who live at Conway's Farm and, in a theme often repeated in Malcolm Saville stories, the two townies are introduced to country ways.
