February Ramblings 2025

27 Society members enjoyed a weekend of excellent weather and good walks in the South Shropshire countryside, based on Bishop's Castle.

On the Saturday, the majority of attendees did a 9 mile circular walk, near Clun, in order to find the likely location for "Grey Walls" on Offa's Dyke (from The Secret of Grey Walls). A smaller, intrepid group did a shorter 5.5 mile walk nearby but seemed to have lots of adventures!

On the Sunday, we all did a circular 7.5 mile walk in the hills and woods to the south west of Bishop's Castle and enjoyed clear views over The Long Mynd and The Stiperstones.
